I was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 18, 1950, and grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin,
a nominal Methodist, with childhood interests in baseball and music. In 1969, I visited
a Baptist preacher's daughter who used Bible verses to show me that I needed to trust
Jesus Christ as my Saviour. The Holy Spirit convicted me, I saw that I was a sinner, and I
realized that the Son of God died for me! I called on the Lord that evening,
and was baptized later that year.
Through the preaching of the Word of God, I was convicted about playing pop music. I had been in a rock-and-roll band since 1962. The Holy Scriptures gave me wonderful strength to leave that business! I began working at Southside Baptist Church (now Wyldewood) in 1973, under the patient leadership of Dr. Howard Nelson, and became acquainted with various gospel ministries. In 1976, I received my B.M.E., K-12 from the local university. I was ordained and sent by our church in 1977. By the 1980's, our family was traveling in full-time evangelism. We are happy to serve in the will of God!
Alan James Ives
Born on September 23,1954, I was the ninth out of twelve children in a Catholic home.
I trusted in Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour on February 27, 1973.
(My salvation and life's verse is I John 5:13.) I was baptized in April of that same year and
married just a few months later.
Although I have no formal training in music, I started in church choirs as an early teen, and was under the choir directing of my husband from 1973 until 1985. It was during those years that I started to learn a few instruments for use in church services. I began playing the harp in 1996; it has been my primary source of musical study and has been an important part of our music.
The Lord has given us five children, each of whom has made a profession of faith in Christ Jesus, and is a member of a local New Testament church. We praise the Lord for each of them, their mates, and our increasing number of grandchildren. God has been so good to us!
